Miracle On Ice

It has been almost 30 years ago and still considered by many the greatest upset in the history of team sports. It happened in the heating moments of the Cold War between the World's two superpowers who competed in all areas from weapon technology to sports. The Soviet Union ice hockey team was viewed as almost unbeatable at the time. I found this clip from the movie Miracle(2004) that uses the victory as background. From the coach's speech we could sense how intense a moment it was. It was a very inspiring speech that's comparable to President Obama's.

Another Roberto Carlos Classic: The Infamous Narrow Angle Shot

He was chasing the ball towards the goal line and kicked the ball at a very narrow angle. Initially, the goalie thought the ball was going middle away from the goal, but the ball curled towards the net! By the time he realized it it was too late. In the video below, a guy was using some fancy math to explain how the shot was "almost impossible". I have to agree that he was full of shit! We all know that no explanation is needed for such an amazing goal, but listen to him just for the entertainment. Enjoy!

Reberto Carlos' Classic Free Kick vs. France

For any soccer fan, this one is definitely NOT to be missed.  No doubt Roberto Carlos is a curl specialist, but this looks really incredible.  He trod so far back that the shot was powerful from a long distance away.  For split of a second after he took the shot, it looked like he blew it as the ball looked as if it was flying away from the goal by a wide margin.  But then the ball curled back in and went just inside the right post.  You can bet everyone on the French team was confused as hell!

The shot was so classic that someone made a replica of it with FIFA'09. Here it is:
